A Meal At Ox Pasture Hotel, Scarborough – Ad

23rd July 2014crelgey

Set upon 17 acres of ground, hidden in the stunning North Yorkshire Moors on the outskirts of Scarborough, the UK’s first seaside resort, there is one of Yorkshire’s finest luxury hotels… Ox Pasture Hall.

With scenic views in every direction you look, you can’t help but fall for the character, charm and home-like environment this hotel has to offer. I mean, Scarborough has many instagram-worthy views, but not like this.

Boasting not only of a gorgeous award-winning Courtyard restaurant, with two rosettes for culinary excellence. The hotel also has a choice of rooms to suit your mood, from the cosy traditional in the main house, courtyard set or an outside cottage suite. The hotel is also available for weddings and other celebrations and lastly is a dog-friendly residence.

Entering through the Bistro, which I plan to revisit for Afternoon Tea sometime, the Bistro has a real cottage, warm, homey feel, with visible stone walls, wooden beams and dark but inviting decor.

On to the restaurant, which is a great size and space, with many windows to marvel at the stunning garden space and views. On warmer days you can also open the doors and sit outside.

Menu wise, The Ox Pasture Hotel has two options; the A La Carte menu and the Bistro menu. For our starters, after much browsing and deliberation, I chose the Beetroot, Carrot and Orange – Salt baked beetroot, carrot puree, beetroot sorbet and orange. My partner having the Ham, Eggs and Peas – Mini ham hock, pea mousse, crispy quail egg, pickled vegetables and honey mustard dressing. Both of which were from the A La Carte menu.

Main courses, it was easy pickings for my partner, choosing the Yorkshire Sirloin Steak – with triple cooked chips, onion rings and tomato. While I opted for the ‘Ox’ Burger – triple cooked chips, chutney and onion rings.

Alas, we weren’t able to manage a dessert. Even though I had already set my heart on the Sticky Toffee Pudding – with butternut sauce and milk ice cream, it just wasn’t to be. Until the next time.

As I’m sure you’ll agree from the pictures alone, the attention to detail, sizing and presentation of the food is immaculate. And the table service was brilliant. Everyone was friendly and efficient.
I really can’t fault Ox Pasture Hall. They truly are worthy holders of their awards and many more. It is definitely somewhere I plan to return and will be recommending to visiting friends and family alike.
