Another month passed.. Where are they going?! I hate to alarm you, but it’s only 16 weeks till Christmas.. Family/Social.
Had a day out with the mummies and toddlers to Thornton Le Dale show. It’s the second year we’ve visited and it was another great day out. It’s a country fair, so plenty of animals from sheep and cows to rabbits and birds. There was also stunt bike display, which always go down well with the boys.
The hubby and I enjoyed a long overdue date night. With having tickets to see Sarah Millican in Bridlington, we decided to make the most of it and booked to have a meal at Raggs restaurant on the harbour. It’s a lovely place, in a perfect location, however I wasn’t completely bowled over by it, the service or the food. I don’t know if it was because it was a Friday night, in the school holidays or what. We may have to return at another date to see. Sarah Millican though was absolutely fantastic. So witty and so Northern. She’s definitely someone we plan to see again and have recommended to many friends that they need to see her also.
The Sunday Lunch Tour (finally) continues. We visited The Plough, Scalby with our neighbours, who very kindly are also our toddler-sitters to treat them to say thank you and also as it was one their birthdays the next day. I’ve been wanting to visit for Sunday lunch since I realised they did Sunday Lunches and it really did not disappoint. It was AMAZING. We’ll definitely be back again.
Took a day trip, finally, to Sewerby Hall, Bridlington. It’s been on my list for a while and it really was a lovely day out. Even if the weather wasn’t on our side. However, we did get a good three hours there. There’s so much to do, especially in the Summer Holiday’s with weekly events on. On this day they had a circus event on, which the boys really enjoyed. Playing with juggling balls, monkey bike, hula hoops. Sewer by Hall also has a small zoo, which isn’t something I’m very fond of. The boys enjoyed the different animals and talking to the parrot and their surprised faces when it said ‘Hello’ back to them.
This month also saw the return of Farm Fest at The Grainary, Harwood dale. Although we didn’t attend last year, it was great day and so well attended. It featured a ‘family’ afternoon, with bouncy castles, stalls, raffles, food carts and a bar serving locally brewed Hedge Hoggers Cider and a visit by two Paw Patrol characters, which made so many children’s day! The evening event which was a music festival with a great lineup of local artists and acts. Sadly, we weren’t able to attend the evening, but we thoroughly enjoyed the day event.
Me, Myself and I.
With starting my new job this month, (September) I needed a trip to Primark for some nice, but cheap ‘working in a preschool’ wear. This meant simple plain tops, cardigans, trousers and maybe a dungaree dress. Yes, I said dress.. And more shockingly, I found one and bought it and it isn’t black! It’s a maroon coloured cord one. New job, new me, eh! So yes, I purchased all the above, plus some new lace up flats, as they’re so cheap and comfy, that I have my other pairs to wear when I’m not at work. I’ll be featuring my new purchases in outfit posts over this month, so keep an eye out.
Myself and Rach took a trip through to Leeds at the beginning of the month to meet up with some other blogger friends to shoot some outfit pictures. All being fashion bloggers and also knowing the type of shots we like, we thought it made sense that we get together and take each others photos. So with packed bags and some suitcases, we met and did said photos. It was a great day, especially finding some new locations. The lovely Rach shot two outfits for me and I love them. Both are now live on the blog here and here. After, we enjoyed a couple of drinks and a catch up. It’s definitely something I plan to do again and sure the ladies will agree.
The award to best event goes to La Redoute. I was lucky enough to be invited to and attend their Summer Party event this month and it was fantastic! Held at the gorgeous New Craven Hall, a surprise location that we were taken to by a mini bus, with other surprises including an ice-cream van and incredible gifts. We were also able to take home an item from their collection, to which, wait for it.. I chose a dress. Yes, a dress. So watch out for the outfit post coming soon. You can read about the event here.
As I mentioned above, The Sunday Lunch Tour continues and there’ll be a post on the yummiest Sunday Lunch from The Plough on the blog soon.
Other posts that went live this month include 3 Things To Do In Jedburgh. We love visiting Jedburgh, not only to see family, but these places are cheap and yummy. I also posted about my Fit Bit Alta. So if you’re thinking of getting a tracker, this post is for you.
