Wants And Wishes For The Year Ahead.

wants and wishes
This isn’t a new years resolution post.. who keeps to those!? It’s more a post of musings, thoughts, wants and wishes that I’d like 2017 to bring and to look forward to.

I’ll be there for you.
Starting a blog, more so over the last couple of years where my confidence has grown and my mind has settled, has allowed me to meet some really amazing and lovely people.
After following people on social media, meeting them in real life is quite a surreal situation. It’s a mild form of being star struck. You feel you know everything about them, since you do follow them on every social media platform available to man, but seeing them in 3D form can leave you slightly nervous and mute to say the least. Personally.
However now, after regularly attending local events, I really look forward to seeing and catching up with those I’ve previously met.
I’ve been lucky enough to find Rachel locally, who’s not only lovely, but being a fashion blogger like myself, is someone who not only doubles as a food partner but also a photographer. It’s thanks to her and her 45mm lens that my outfit pictures have once again hugely improved this last year. We’ve also become quite a double act at local events. It’s great having a blogging pal. I’m looking forward to where 2017 takes us.
As well as seeing more of the lovely ladies I already know, I’m wishing 2017 allows me the chance to meet some more amazing people and build some more friendships.

The .com
A lot of change happened with this little space in 2016. With it’s FINAL name change, a move to WordPress and a design upgrade, I’m finally feeling this space is becoming what I’ve longed for it to be and look like for a good year now. It started to be become frustrating to me that I couldn’t express myself visually how I wanted. Some say it’s about the quality of content/the ability to write rather than aesthetics, but I’m a visual person. I read/look at blogs/magazines and shop based on what I see and therefore what I like comes from what I see.
It may take me some time to get used to what WordPress has to offer, but I’m excited and so happy to finally see it up and running.
I’ll continue to post twice a week, as I feel it works well for life balance. I take off my hat to those that run a blog plus have a full time job and children!

Stay local.
A couple of years ago, during a moment of clarity, realisation and direction finding, I decided to feature local businesses within this space. I realised, after choosing not to document my toddler and become a parent blogger, that the next best thing and something I experience day in and out if my local town. Plus that there’s a lot more to it than it’s Blackpool-like seafront and amusements. With this in mind, a separate page was added to this space to house all local content. A reference point if you wish. Food reviews. Family days out. Other businesses.
I’ve been lucky enough to not just review local businesses, but really build some great working and personal friendships along the way. It’s not about freebies, it’s about respect. And that works both ways.
I wrote a piece for a local Hospitality Marketing company called Boostly, on how working with bloggers is a good for your business. It’s something I’m quite proud of and think smaller businesses especially should be aware of.
My wishes are to continue to work with local people and businesses into the coming year.

As a child, my holidays were spent between the Lake District, where we have family and also around the UK at Haven Holiday Parks. (plus the odd Butlins) I’m not sure why my parents chose this, they were quite the travellers before me. But regardless, I’m grateful non the less. The Lake District has become a second home and even while at a Haven site, we took days out to visit the local towns/surroundings. Although it might not sound it, I actually have quite a good geographical knowledge of places, plus many memories spanning up, down and across the UK.
I have been further afield, across the water. I’ve visited the US twice, a quick stop in Canada, Malta, Amsterdam and Sweden. These are all places I’d love to visit again. Especially to take both my husband and toddler, however, for now, my husband and I plan to have many staycations. Having already visited Cornwall, which we’d love to do again, our new year wishes are to venture a wee bit further north to Edinburgh, amongst other places, so watch this space.

What are your wants and wishes? Have you made any plans yet? Or goals?

This is a great post. I am definitely planning on some staycations this year and I have never visited places like the Lake District or Cornwall so they are top of my list. I love the look of your blog and that’s definitely something I need to work on to improve this year,

You definitely should visit both. Stunning in their own ways. So much to see and do! Aw thank you. It’s taken some time, but it’s finally where I’ve wanted it to be. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. x
