Afternoon tea is always a good idea. When it’s then a festive one makes it a necessity. My lovely friend Lizi came to the coast for the day, so of course, the only way to catch up was over tea and cake. After a search, the Crown Spa Hotel, Festive Afternoon Tea won.
Crown Spa Hotel Festive Afternoon Tea.
The hotel’s restaurant is called Taste. However, we were seated in a separate room, which was a lot brighter to the rear of the bar. Having asked to be possibly seated near a window, it was nice that they had done what they could for us.
The room was minimally but tastefully festively decorated, which made us both very excited for the impending food. It also became apparent that no one else would be joining us in the room, so we took full advantage by photographing everything without feeling awkward.
What We Ate.
The festive afternoon tea consisted of:
- Turkey and cranberry sauce sandwiches
- Homemade scone, topped with jam and brandy sauce cream
- Mini gingerbread man
- Mini chocolate log
- Slice of Christmas cake
- Mini mince pie.
- A choice of tea or mulled wine
I loved the simplicity of the afternoon tea. Apart from the mince pie, I loved everything. It wasn’t too over the top or that you felt overwhelmed.
Priced at a very reasonable £14.95pp or if your feeling exceptionally festive and want to indulge in the homemade mulled wine option, it’s £18.95pp.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Crown Spa. The service was friendly and equally attentive and I haven’t hesitated in recommending them for a festive afternoon tea in Scarborough to friends. I’ll definitely return to try further offerings from their Taste restaurant. Or just another afternoon tea.
