I literally feel like October came and went in a flash. Albeit some Mrs Hinch style multi-purpose blossom and breeze smelling flash at that!
Plus in the coming days, it’ll be bonfire night and then whether we like it or not, we’ll all totally be in the grips of a Christmas countdown.
What’s Been Happening.
Baby updates are: The boy is now over a stone in weight and doing well. These monthly weigh in’s are just that. I have zero other reasons to go. We’ve also begun attending a couple of baby groups, weekly. One local in the village and the other in town. He’s also down for a place for a storytime group at our village library. We would have started sooner, but I hadn’t realised there was a list and you couldn’t just rock up. I’m looking forward to getting him started there as listening to and being involved in stories and books from a young age is a great skill and interest to have.
Half term flew round and included Halloween. So, of course, a mandatory annual trip to Piglets Adventure Park near York happened to get our pumpkin. I’m sure I say it every year, but we do love going and being able to choose our own pumpkin from the patch. Always fun to see the smallest children lugging the biggest pumpkins back to the tractor! We met up with some friends there and their little boy for a catch up as they recently moved to Grimsby. Halloween evening we headed out with some friends, not trick or treating but to watch Magic Mike’s Not So Spooky Halloween Show at Scarborough Spa. The children loved it. He is funny. The latter part of half term was spent at home, with a few trips out. It’s just about quality time.
Sunday. Funday. We’re still spending our Sunday mornings at the skatepark. Although it’s definitely getting colder, I’m not complaining. It’s good that he wants to get out and go, but also that he’s getting a little braver each time. I have to say, for all the times I’ve sat on the side and said ‘just go down the hill, it’s not that big.’ It actually is! I know it’s definitely a mindset thing, but I actually do admire him for really just doing what he does. However little it may seem.
Missed Something & Some Thoughts.
This month’s main post was a collaboration with Leesa. Our new mattress is really amazing, I’m so grateful to Leesa. Although our 5-month-old is really making me appreciate any amount of sleep I get, this new mattress makes it all the sweeter. Have a catch up here.
Keeping it real. I’ve been tweaking a few things here and there with this blog. Change is always good and although I loved what I had, it felt a bit ridged. Although I’ve always said it, I’m the first to admit that I do end up falling into blogger cliches. ‘You don’t need a theme to succeed‘ – check out my Instagram of late. Shocking. But now I mean it. Also now I don’t have the time to be messing around with all the posed outfit pics. Posed anything and themes. Especially with a child that has a witching hour of 5/6pm. So in with the real. Real life shots.
Of the back of the above is the new conversations and blog posts surrounding the buying of followers and or likes, and the effect it has on the brands but also fellow creators. It’s quite a controversial topic. As much as it’s known, I don’t believe anyone has come to ‘justice’ in regards to it. Plus, at the end of the day, the people that have done it and worked with more Pr’s and brands off the back of it, now probably have a more genuine following because of it. But what can honestly be done?
