It’s quickly becoming clear, as the months’ pass, that there is no such thing as a quiet month anymore. You know, there used to be the odd month where life would give you a little break. No birthdays etc.
I keep telling myself to get a grip and just deal with it. This is life now. Two boys. Two sets of friends. Two different ages.
Let’s do this.
The month began with the eldest’s Sports Day. I’m quite the let’s say, ‘supportive and enthusiastic’ parent. I love watching and the weather was definitely on our side also, there were blue skies and sunshine. He did really well, coming away from three stickers (a first, a second and a third), I was so proud of him and he was proud of himself also.
A mummy meal happened this month. Our last being in May. This time we visited the gorgeous Copper Horse in the nearby village of Seamer. I’ve written about the Copper Horse before for it’s Sunday Lunch and Evening Meals and this visit was no different. It was a lovely evening, with lovely company and yummy food. I had the pork and apple burger for main and unsurprisingly, the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
And just like that it was the end of July and the Summer holidays were here. Holidays are always so bittersweet. I miss the eldest when he’s at school, but also entertaining two little people for six weeks is a tad daunting. Though we have a few things in the pipeline,
Birthdays, they’re never-ending. This is what school life does to you. It may be your child at school, but this is a parents life now, never-ending weeks and months of birthday parties and social events. Saying that, those this month have been for the youngest, so I guess it starts again. We have though enjoyed a good few first birthday parties this month – where does that first year go!?
I’m now officially a football mum. Finally got our little boy signed up to a local football team ready for season starting in September. The team is brilliant and I can’t wait to see how he develops within it. I now just need to wait a few years and sway the youngest into rugby or gymnastics and my work here is done. Haha!
